With teams attending from all over the Southeast and East the Cooper boys represented Kentucky well at the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, NC.  The Jags traveled all that way to match up against some of the best competition in the country.  Among the teams attending were the team champion and #2 team in the nation La Salle Academy (RI), and 2 of the top 5 teams from the Southeast Daniel Boone (TN) and Brentwood (TN).

Senior Zachary Stewart led the Jags by finishing 5th and crushing his previous PR with a 15:30.24 for 5k.  This makes Zachary one of the top runners in the nation and #1 in Kentucky AAA so far this season.  All of the varsity ran their best races of the season with Brady Baker 32nd in 15:56.70, Connor Greenhalgh 34th in 15:58.12, Mitchell Greenhalgh 66th in 16:21.06, Jake Vandermosten 118th in 16:58.26, and Caleb Watson 130th in 17:04.93.

The breakthrough races for the varsity led to a 7th place finish, tops among teams from Kentucky, defeating State powerhouse and 3 time defending state champion St. Xavier – Louisville for the first time in school history.

The Junior Varsity followed up that performance with 4 more personal records and 6 season bests.  Led by senior Simon Greenhalgh and sophomore Michael Hoffman, 15th and 16th respectively, the JV finished 6th out of 20 teams in their race.  Freshmen Nathan Byrd moved up the all-time freshman list to #5 all time with an 18:17 5k and Arthur Sonzogni is #6 all time for freshmen with an 18:24.

The rest of the team competed in Williamstown, KY finishing 3rd in their race.  Freshman Blake Bosley led the team there with a 12th place finish.
