The Cooper Jaguars took on the Ryle Raiders Friday and won in a defensive battle 12-3. Cooper Junior running back Torrey Cordell-Armstrong had 109 yards on 29 carries and 1 touchdown. Sophomore Mitchell Hollifield hit a 25 yard field goal and Junior Marcus Watson brought the Ryle Quarterback down in the endzone for a safety.

The Cooper Defense was the real story of the night as they only allowed 122 yards of total offense to Ryle. The defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage all night limiting Ryle’s running game as well as adding continued pressure on the Ryle QBs.

Cooper is now 1-0 on the season.

Next week Cooper will take on the Thoroughbreds of Newport Central Catholic. The game will be at Cooper and kickoff is at 7:30 pm.
